a birthday

Today would have been sweet Kara's 28th birthday. These pictures are from her birthday last year. Little Luke was only a few weeks old. We ate dinner and Mark made her a cake. Mark and I were honored to host for her special day. What a blessing that she and Luke could spend time together that day.

I love her smile. It shows true genuine joy.
This smile shows up in every picture she shares with her son.

This week was the worst for me. Just when I think I have grief figured out I find out that I don't.
Thank goodness for baby Luke. He is everything good and wonderful to make up for the hard stuff.
Without Kara there would be no Luke. We are so grateful for her today.
I just wish I could stop crying.
